Subdue the Earth

Subdue the Earth is a two-day garden and homestead conference hosted by Lakeshore Gardens, a ministry of Lakeshore Baptist Church. This event brings together practical instruction and biblical teaching on gardening, food production, homesteading, and the theology of work.

Whether you’re planting your first garden or planning a long-term homestead, this conference is designed to encourage faithful, grounded, and joyful work to the glory of God.

Schedule:

Friday Feb 20:

  • 5:30 pm – Registration
  • 6:00 pm – “Fig Trees in the Bible and in Your Yard” – Don Elbourne
  • 7:00 pm – “The Creation Mandate: Genesis 1” – Chris Bird

Saturday Feb 21:

  • 8:30 am – Coffee and Registration
  • 9:00 am – “Growing a Backyard Fruit Orchard” – Don Green
  • 9:45 am – “Raising Chickens and Guineas” – Kemit Spears
  • 10:30 am – Hancock County Master Gardeners / MSU Extension – Mary Pyles
  • 11:15 am – “Our Family Homestead” – Rusty Grant
  • Noon – Lunch (provided by Lakeshore Baptist Church)
  • 1:00 pm – “Raise Beds and Keeping it Simple” – Scott Ricca
  • 2:00 pm – “The Theology of Labor and Rest” – Rusty Reed
  • 3:00 pm – Hands on in the Garden and Orchard (various opportunities for you to work in the gardens)
